About Calculator Institute
A small independent website with one calculator per question, each one checked against the original rules and honest about what it leaves out.
Why it exists
Most questions people type into a search box have one number for an answer: what a paycheck comes to after taxes, which date is 90 days from today, whether a new rule applies to you. Too many calculator pages give that number without saying where it came from, which year's rules it used, or what it skipped.
We build the opposite. Every calculator shows the steps behind its result, names its sources, and says on the page when those sources were last checked. If a rule is still a proposal, or a form isn't out yet, the page says that too.
About the name
“Institute” describes the habit we want to keep: look things up properly and write them down. We are not a government agency, a university, a research institute or an accredited body, and we hold no seals or certifications. We are not tax, legal, financial or medical advisers.
Rules we keep
The original source first
Laws, regulations and agency publications, not other calculators or summaries. Details on how we check.
The date on every page
Tax years, limits and rates change. Each page names the year its rules are for and the day we last checked them.
An estimate is called an estimate
Money, tax and health pages say plainly that the result is an estimate, and what kind of situation it can't cover.
No tracking you
We count what gets used so we can improve it, without cookies and without knowing who you are. The privacy page lists exactly what is measured.
Who
Calculator Institute is made by a small independent team of two: one person builds and checks the calculators, one designs them. Nobody pays us to rank a product or a lender. If you find a mistake, tell us and a person will look at it.
